Francesco Pucci, a senior e-learning consultant with Teeled in Italy, has compiled 12 definitions of mobile learning, and one anti-definition (mine), on his blog, Parrot Science. His list of definitions is presented humorously, from a wide variety of sources.
My non-definition is “…mobile learning is not about putting e-learning course materials into a smaller package so that they can be played on a mobile device…” My definition of mobile learning is in my book, The Mobile Learning Edge:
“[Mobile learning is where] a learner can be physically mobile while at the same time remaining connected to non-proximate sources of information, instruction, and data.”
To add to Francesco’s list, here is my vote for the most politically incorrect definition of mobile learning:
“Mobile learning should be restricted to learning on devices which a lady can carry in her handbag or a gentleman can carry in his pocket.” (Keegan, 2005). (GW)
