One of the purposes of this blog is to update the information in The Mobile Learning Edge. Sometimes one of my colleagues or I will do it, and sometimes it comes from an external source. Such is the case with a recent non-technical article in the eLearning Guild’s Learning Solutions Magazine, where Yael Even-Levy presents the latest word on HTML5, the new version of the markup language that will work with most, if not all, mobile devices. Yael references my book, but adds a great list of authoring tools that support HTML5, some of which were not available when I wrote the manuscript in early 2010. (Bill Brandon, the editor, notes in the article that a more up to date list of tools appears in the eLearning Guild’s publication, the 2011 Mobile Learning: Landscape and Trends Report.)
There is a lot more about HTML5 that is useful in this article, including the impact of the language for learners, instructional designers, and developers. Check it out if you want the latest on HTML5.
